The bad point for me is that the releases are not equal in bringing useful cards for diferent playstyles. Compare , Witchblade and this character with and .
The comparison shows that the first ones are much more powerfull, and the last ones are nearly useless. I have seen decks with the first three in Global, but I havent seen neither the second group nor new cards from their releases.
So, I think that this type of powercreep is good only if the developers buff all styles eqally, without having favorites or loosers.
Unfortunately not every update will have useful/significant cards every single time. Why? Because if that were to happen, then almost every single card you see in the market would cost somewhere between 50,000 - 800,000 crystals, and then even players who have the proper amount of resources would be hard pressed to get the cards they need. Some updates have to be worse than others by NECESSITY, so that even new and non-paying players can get new cards. The way they release cards is kinda like this: this time around these groups will get great updates, these over here will get decent ones, and these last few will get mediocre updates, and then eventually it gets switched up. Do some guilds/castes get better cards more often than others? Yes. Do they always? No. Does it mean you might have to wait a long time for that next SL or RL update you want? Yes, but eventually it's time will come. Also I have seen plenty of people use the cleaner and his associated cards, but he and skeletik (among others) are mediocre to give everyone a (somewhat) chance to enjoy the game, not just the ones that pay.
