i'll do my best to translate my long post on the french forums.
This long message gives some numbers to figure out how things will work, and an example of deck changes. brace yourselves. The numbers here are theoretical because some data haven't been factored in but should be reasonably accurate.
How things will be tomorrow after the patch Well, first, ratling will be erradicated. eeks, skeeksLess than 20% of all cards should be loaded, most of them with values between 5 and 20 . A good dozen should be above 50 and the highest one should be around 80-100 (It should be either one of two Zil chars, I'll let you guess which)
Most of the "heavily loaded cards are parts of 2 Beatdown decks : Zil (Rogues, Daggers, DD) and Noz (Mages, Nuke spells). These are very, very popular and effective. Most other cards are parts of some other decks (Kotoba, Stonelinkers, Nomads) and last, there are some very effective and easy-to-add-everywhere cards (collectors, legendaries, Helmet...)
We expect both these "overloaded" decks should reach 1k, hence will need major overhaul to still be playable. This only concerns two decks but obviously plenty people (up to more than half of Top10 and 3 quarters ot Top25 players sometime - all the while few others achieve the same results with decks that would have a total load of 100). These "powerhouses" are expected to be much less played, and much less effective immediately, later on they should still be roughly playable but they shouldn't reach their current domination. For a loooooonnng time.
Here is an example of how to break down a 1k deck to a 500 limit (again, this is an example, as real values may diverge) . Sorry, cards name are in french, but hover it, you'll prolly have it by the picture :

Other classic decks should weigh between 300 and 700, implying zero to manageable changes to reach the limit.
Short term evolutionThe loads on tuesday morning are artificially low (very) to avoid risking to make things unplayable at the start and take into account the lack of a prior 500 limit (which would have toned down loads). But all scores should quickly ramp up.
If you can reach 1700 ELO with a 200 deck, do not be surprised if it gets to 250+ at the next update.
If its total load is above 450 and you are used to mirror match, you should definitely be thinking about what changes you'll do because it will most probably go through the roof soon.
Under levelled-cards All 'not max level" cards should have a load around 0, characters and cards alike. Load are counted separately, and usually none uses sub-par versions of their cards in a competitive game (until now).
This is intended for 2 main reasons : first there is no accurate rule that can describe every difference between a card and its level-up : sometime it if +/- the same, (character with +1 hp) and sometime it is just simply NOT the same card (consider living dagger).
Second is to avoid being unfair to some deck who really have only 3 playable characters while other have 5 or more and can easily switch one for another less loaded (thus "not counting" par of its load).
By considering every version of a character a different card, we make sure most decks have a high number of characters (some being obviously better than others) - and the advantage you get from having an 8th dude on the bench is neglectable.
One immediate consequence is that you can cheaply gain load points by just switching your char with his little brother. This wasn't done on purpose, but we're fine letting things as they are so that everyone can have an easy way to manage load at the beggining. Of course as these sub-versions of characters (and cards) will see play, the differences will even out.
Answer to some questions (asked on french forum) -Load is for 1 card, running 3 of previously banned cards would then be 3x200 (= not possible, for those mathematically impaired).
-Loads are 99% counted by considering decklists (versus actual game). what happens during the course of a game counts very, very, very sligthly. If you side some cards for a specific match-up and never meet that (hence never actually use the card) it will still score.
-There is no relevant relation between rarity and load. We have used heavy (ha.ha.ha.ha) maths on the subject. Hence Load of every new card will start at a generic 20 points. Legendaries are ofc a different kind of cat as there is no way statistics mean anything on such small numbers but we've applied the same methods to score them and the results are in now way surprising.
Sleep tight,
Tandyys
