This is something that was discussed in another thread, and I wanted to make a dedicated thread about it.

Right now, AoE spells have 2 downsides:
- Can't be chained
- Don't benefit from most bonuses to spell effects/damage

But this makes some cards too good or too weak...
- for example - it's too strong if you let it get most bonuses and chain; but it's also too weak as it is - neither chaining nor getting bonuses.

- If didn't allow chains (neither into nor from), it wouldn't need to be Unique.
- If didn't benefit from Ishaia's ability, it would be less overwhelming.
- If didn't benefit from Ishaia's ability, she could actually use it.

So what I propose is a distinction between AoE and non-chainable.

Suggested Category Changes
(Area of Effect (AoE)) - A category related to cards that affect multiple or all enemies, friends or both.
- Doesn't benefit from spell effect/damage bonuses that state "Non AoE"
- Can Chain

Examples of AoE Cards:
- You'd be able to Chain it.
- No longer overpowered with Ishaia.
- No longer bugged with Ishaia.
- You'd be able to Chain it.

(Greater) - A category related to cards that are deemed too powerful to be chained into or from.
- Cannot Chain
- Benefits from spell effect/damage bonuses that state "Non AoE"

Examples of Greater Cards:
- No longer Chain'able

(Greater Area of Effect (AoE)) - A category related to AoE spells that are deemed too powerfulto be chained into or from.
- Cannot chain
- Doesn't benefit from most spell effect/damage bonuses

Examples of Greater AoE Cards:
(Lv3) - Remains as it is, but classified as Greater AoE
- Remains as it is, but classified as Greater AoE
- Remains as it is, but classified as Greater AoE

Result
The point of this suggestion is that there isn't a sweet spot right now.

Currently is all or nothing.
Either chain AND benefits from all bonuses OR doesn't chain NOR benefit from any bonuses.

This suggestion gives Feerik more ways to fine tune cards without needing to create castes and specific conditions.

And what does that have to do with anything?

Do you use Council's Banner on Lightning Chain?
Do you use it on Living Nature?

I'm talking about giving developers more ways to balance spells.

Try again, next time actually think about what you're saying.

It's only possible to make a comment like that if you don't read the suggestion at all.

So who was aggressive first?

My suggestion doesn't affect spells that are powerful.
Lightning Bolts (Lv3), Collision, Tornado, etc, would be Greater AoE, and still benefit from using the council's banner.

But some spells, that are clearly underpowered, like Lightning Chain, or are useless like Philosophic Debate when used by Ishaia, can become properly balanced.

My suggested Greater Spells and Greater AoE Spells can still use The Council's Banner.
It's just AoE spells that become chainable.
Some spells that currently are nothing, would become AoE.
Some spells that currently are nothing, would become Greater.
Some spells that currently are AoE, would become the new AoE.
Some spells that currently are AoE, would remain the new Greater AoE.

Well AoE effects should just be lower.... If for example a Non-AoE effect did 12 dmg on a single char, the AoE should just spread the 12 among the chars. And of course AoE spells should be ignored if more cards are played on the same round. Cards that say bring a card in play from grave should say: copy the card effect.

Also there should be a limit of cards a char can play or bring in a single turn. The rest should be ignored. I hate the game mechanic that allows a player to play 5-10 cards in a row. How more stupid it can be?

From the ancient times drawing a card every turn in card games of this style had a meaning. Bring that meaning back Freerik, for Christ shake!

The point of this suggestion is not buffing or nerfing.
It's giving Feerik ways to balance all cards more accurately.

This gives Feerik a mid-term -> just unchainable (greater) or just unbuffable (AoE), or both (Greater AoE).

Too complex. You can achieve what you want with removing rule of "aoe can't chain' and adding (no chain) to "greater aoe" cards. Keep it simple.

Any way, in my opinion, dumb idea. Feerik should just either remove old cards or change them, that's all we need - but it would be very bad for getting money - there should be trash, so that people would spend more feez, trying to get what they want. So, this will never happen :)

Wow. I'm amazed.

Regarding Greater vs AoE suggestion:
I'm not complicating anything.
Right now AoE has 2 properties: no chain; no spell bonus
I am suggesting to separate it:
- AoE = no spell bonus
- Greater = no chain
Then, cards can be Greater + AoE (same as current AoE) = no chain; no spell bonus
This makes it EASIER for Feerik to balance cards.
And it is super easy for players to identify as well.
There are absolutely no drawbacks to this suggestion.

Regarding your change of topic to trash cards and Feerik making money:
Do you think players become very excited to acquire new cards, if they think those new cards will become trash in a few weeks or months?
