This can be only a translation bug, the description of the card says that the non chosen iten is removed from the match, the chosen card will be discarted if the character can't use it.

Wait, the description of the card in my colection are very diferent from the URL copy,LOL, data base troll bug. Please Feerik fix that.

In any language, the card is mentioned as discarded.
But like with every discard, we don't exactly know if the card reach the discard pile immediately or after the end of turn...
