can legally play any card of any Caste which he associates with.

But/Bug

(as a Shadowmancer) does not benefit from . I have not tested it with because of insufficient gold.

Therefore, we can conclude that is coded to work with characters that originally belong to Shadowmancer’s Caste; however, is not coded to work with characters that become Shadowmancer under certain conditions but are not originally from Shadowmancer’s Caste.

every character can be a shadowmancer if you use teaching, a player tried this and his shadowmancer foam giant doest get the bonus
