played some games today, for the sake of checking out what decks are played.
personally I like slower metas, espacally with the the new restrictions (well, the load values pretty much work against the rarity restrictions, but that is a different topic all on its own.), for players have put a lot of thought into what type of deck they want to play.
I like it.
brainstorming what options a person has.
do I play this character or should I go for the common one? can I counter legendary xyz? if I cannot use my two or three play sets, how do I work around it?
as I, said I like it.
finally some of us must leave their comfort zone and must adabt. while others are lucky enough to find the idyl answer for this new Standard environment.
but I digressed...
I just wanted to have an overall picture of the current builds.
for now it looks like runic-craftsman, eclipse, tracker/crow and storm where some of the stronger decks out there. yes, there where some fun and gimmicky ones (sorry, but I must fit this in. I lost to a friggen FragLight deck that looked like a storm deck. it was awesome. same character setup, many of the same support cards but a completely different winning image... it even had an orbital. *o*).
but still, I thought it was interesting how many people played the same decks. maybe they just went with what they where beaten with or thought of them to be the best decks available. maybe that will change with the time as we get used to the new Standard.
and one last note...
I think it is great to limit the of rares during deckbuilding so harshly, because of this circumstance some of us might change the way they look at c/uc cards.
which I as a mtg pauper player highly approve of.
Sorry, for my little rant but I am so excited because of the new change that I might start playing regularly again. ^^

tbh, I don't really think so.
because now even your character roster impacts the overall play style of your deck.
I can only speak for myself here, but I've put similar restrictions on my decks befor ('cause I am a casual... do not judge me) and even the same deck archetype feels incredible different. and sometimes you come up with strage and effective ideas due to such limitations.
in stort it is a good way for people to train there deckbuilding abilities.

Uncommons are at least available to 90%+ of the Player Base... OP or not... For a casual player, Rares and Legends that are 100k+ Cx in the market ( If they actually appear there ) aren't...
In Quil, Any OP uncommon will end up limited by loads because everyone will want to use them... Just look at the load that Clumsiness has had on it recently...
I just hope that a lot more will start playing Standard Tournament regularly now... Makes it a viable tournament again for those without a fistful of Legends...

but again if we use as example flawseekers, just imagine you are able to use a decent one in quilingo, the only good rare you need is harmony and you have a full operative deck
now, look how complete is this deck while others rely even in rare chars, how is this even fair?
rare cards arent a small pool in eredan
rare cards arent equally distributed in guilds
rare cards exist like any other rarity with good cards, and useless cards
even more, what argument do you use to select card rarity? celerity uncommon, aging rare, fs mastery unc, fs calling unc
now, a guild uncommon like flawseeker's calling is wrecking you = have to play it because: 1) i cant build my own deck and or 2) is the top deck (like top tiers have to use them to win) and or 3) wait to loads updates
i think 5 rares only (counting chars) is excesive too, not every deck have the choice of skip a character
True, but i think some kidn of restiriction there is usefull.
You need to be carefull which cards are coming into standard but its a good start to stop the kind of "Just event and rare non runic cards Decks".
there are some decks that coudl easily get out of controle like hap elfine or the tsoutai.

Totally agree on this point...
Especially if you want Kabara'Kan and Tumi Mohica in a deck or pretty much most the decent Zil decks needing 2x Rare Chars then including Chars in the 5 Rare limit can really limit your option for any sort of power combos...
Re-balancing Standard was always going to be a tricky job... I still expect it to be "Tweaked" after 2-3 Tourneys either to not include chars or to extend it to 6 Rares...
