Hello all! I've decided to start posting bits and pieces of information on the Runics and their homeland as I perceive it. I hope to post something with each new Runic release, but from time to time I might have a little extra for you, and might even update some of them as time goes on. Unfortunately due to life constraints I won't be able to give you full stories as my fellow GL's have, but I do hope eventually that can change, and that for now you can enjoy what I have.

Scroll 1- The House of Hares

Pervitine was an orphan, the only survivor of the Temple of Ophi, a faith worshiping one of the lesser Gods of the Runic Pantheon. Being a small temple and on the far outskirts of Tantad, it was ransacked and burned down by brigands. Having been hidden away in a secret underground chamber by her mother, a temple servant, Pervitine’s only companions were the temple’s divine snake and a set of armor said to be blessed by Ophi herself. Unable to intervene and help her followers, Ophi sent a divine message to Sapient, the Oracle. Obeying the Goddess will, Sapient and a unit of Legionnaires led by Hares made their way to the ruined temple, passing judgment upon the blasphemers who would commit such a crime. Ophi then led Sapient and Hares to where Pervitine lay hidden. Upon finding the poor girl, Hares vowed to take her in as his own and train her, fully understanding the pain of losing one’s home and family.

Hares. You should already know much of his story, but, along with being the master and adoptive father of Pervitine, is also married to Thena, who although is a priest, has combat ability that matches even Hares power, which greatly impressed him during their first campaign together. After working closely together for some time the two realized they both wanted more than just fighting enemies together. So over time, after much courting, Hares finally decided to ask for her hand in marriage, oddly doing so in the middle of battle of all times. However Thena felt it was the most romantic proposal ever and (while beating a brigand into the dirt) accepted immediately. Unfortunately for Hares, he now must live with a snake that enjoys sleeping in his armor and an eagle that likes to pluck at his hair. Although a normal human (except for his colossal strength of course) Hares seems to have developed an innate ability to resist magic. This is probably due to enduring severe electrocution on several different occasions.

Thena was born and raised in Antellechia, A city, and it’s temple, named after it’s patron Goddess. At a young age many could tell she was gifted child. Smart, strong, and quick-witted, along with a fiery temper, everyone that knew her would nod their heads saying that the young girl would one day be a prodigy among the ranks of the Runic Legion. And Thena herself couldn’t wait for the day she was old enough to join the Tantadian Military School, her first step to become a legend in the Halls of the Pantheon. As luck would have it, the Weavers of Fate had slightly different plans for the girl. One night, Thena’s parents received a divine dream. One that told them not only was their daughter meant for great things, (which they already knew of course) but that her path would start not at becoming a warrior, but by being a priestess. On waking from the dream she was ruched to the Antellechian temple to serve the Gods. Despite the unsatisfactory turn in her life, Thena took being a priestess in stride (after several months of raging tantrums and trying to sneak away from the temple) and was shown to be just as good at it as she was at fighting. Over the years Thena matured and her fiery nature calmed, she early on she became friends with Erine, another girl chosen to become a priestess early in life, and acquired her pet eagle whom she had nursed back to health, although she never quit training to be a warrior, practicing whenever she could. Finally her childhood dream would come true, when she, along with Erine, was chosen to represent the Antellechian temple in joining the Runic Legion on a campaign into the world of the Equinoxians. She was placed under the command of Hares, and proved her worth by not only fighting so fiercely that even Hares himself was impressed, but also due to the number of lives she saved with her theurgy skills. Upon the Legion’s return, many called for her to be granted the title of Archon, which she received with zero opposition. Although from that point on she could live life easy with such a high status, Thena chose to permanently stay with the Legion, often working with Hares as the two had become close.

For the newest addition to the Runics, Scroll 2 - The Man with Iron Fists

Ladies and gentlemen! Viewers of all Guem! From the shiniest of Solarians to the sneakiest of Shadow Guemelites! Today is the day, that here at Tantad’s greatest arena, the Volcano Dome, that we see the return of a legend! The great warrior, the man with the rhino hands, Bone Kruher! Who is that you ask? Well let me tell you. He is known better by his stage name from the Sand Arena of the Emerald Desert, Krak-Bone! Why the poor name disguise? Years ago when Kruher first entered the arena circuit, he was fierce, strong, and undefeated in every fight. But then, after four straight championship wins, he suffered two major defeats in the finals of his fifth. First Kruher suffered a humiliating loss to the Armor Lord Okulus, whose skill and tactics ran circles around him. And then even worse, in a terrible match of pure strength, Kruher then lost to our current Arena Champion, the man so great, the Runic Gods themselves blessed him with the title of Olympus champion! Since then Kruher faded into obscurity, dominating the minor arenas under his alias. But now he has come back, with his rhino gauntlet whips at the ready, stronger than ever, and with new skills under his belt, and new allies at his side! And let me tell you folks, he’s back with a vengeance, ready to claim what’s rightfully his! Without further ado, let the Gladiator Games begin!

Scroll 3 - Tantad’s history Part 1: The Zodiac Knights

Once, among the Runic Pantheon there were a group of 13 Gods and Goddesses, both major and minor that wanted to give thanks to the mortals who worshiped them. It was decided they would each provide a chosen mortal to wield a bit of their power, to help protect themselves and their fellows from forces the Gods themselves could not directly intervene in. These powers were bestowed though blessed weapons, armor, theurgic ability, runes, and even small bits of Divine energy. For years each generation of these 13 warriors and priests stood as champions. However ,over time new champions of the Zodiac would not appear. Their patron Gods having lost followers resulting in their powers being severely weakened. For others, the items through which their power flowed were either lost, some during the war with Nehant or even further back in time, destroyed, or in the case of one particular God, stolen by brigands and pirates…

Known Zodiac Knights:

Knight: Pervitine - Symbol: #13 Ophiuchus the Snake

Knight: Leira - Symbol: #12 Pisces the Fish

Knight: Centeros - Symbol: #9 Sagittarius the Centaur

Tantad’s history Part 2: The Sinking
Long before Eredan, long before the war with Nehant, there was a once a time when the White isles and Tantad were one. In fact the land that would eventually become the isles before being torn apart by the Vortex, consisted of an entire half of Tantad’s country. During these ancient times both magic and faith were a source of power for the people, who were capable of amazing feats. But what caused this split? A massive earthquake tore through the land, the source of which very few still know about, causing the now White isles to drift away, severing a once great empire into the two nations we know today. Naturally when Tantad and the White Isles were split, many towns and cities were lost, falling into the abyss of the ocean…But what if I told you that some of those cities managed to survive? Before complete destruction, using a mix of runes and magic, a technique that has been lost upon the Pirates and Runics, huge domes were erected over several cities, sparing the lives within, and allowing them to continue on in a new environment full of abundant resources and untapped potential. Seeing no reason to try returning to the surface, these lost people have managed to thrive underwater for generations slowly adapting to better survive their underwater home. And with them, the Gods they worshiped changed and adapted as well, once being members of the Runic Pantheon they became cut off in a way, forming their own “Aquatic” Pantheon. These aquatic cities soon came to be collectively known as Ocearia, a self sufficient country that has gone unnoticed by the rest of Guem for all this time. But now crisis had struck this marine populace, the Sea Gods they have prayed to for so long no longer answering their prayers and pleas, and the runes and lost magic of the protective domes slowly dying as a result. Although their society has evolved to where many can survive underwater with no issue, there are still those that can’t, and much knowledge that would be lost to the waves. As a result, it was decided that it was finally time to reconnect with the surface and several emissaries have been sent to the surface to reconnect with their Tantadian brothers in hopes of saving their home.
