That makes sense, nervous.one, however, there are a few fundamental differences between Eredan and M:tG that prevents it from properly using the same sollutions for balance:

1) - M:tG cards are physically printed. M:tG can't change them without screwing players who already got them.
But this isn't really much of a problem, because of 3).

2) - There would be tremendous production costs if WotC decided to rebalance and reprint cards and allow players to trade in their old versions for the new version.
But this isn't really much of a problem, because of 3).

3) - M:tG has a very organized way to release cards:
- They design cards in BLOCKS of 300+ at a time.
- They test cards for months.
- They then release them in SETS of 100+ at a time, with 2+ months between releases, as well as periodic EDITIONS, wich consist of recurring cards from previous EDITIONS/BLOCKS that are considered "SAFE" to bring to the current BLOCK.
- While releasing these already tested SETS, they are already working on a new BLOCK.

4) - Then they make a FORMAT that consists of current BLOCK + latest EDITION; and other more "card-specific" FORMATS.

This only works because - since they design EDITION to mesh with the latest BLOCK - there are always 500+ reasonably balanced cards available to play with in STANDARD at any time.

Wich means, overpowered combos usually come from mixing cards from different BLOCKS.

5) - M:tG doesn't really sport a meaningful power creep anymore.
There were a few power jumps in early M:tG, as it was trying to "establish" its gameplay, but it has long ago settled in terms of how much mana does a certain ability cost, etc.

Those facts are extremely important.
As a result:
a) - Because cards are digital, Feerik CAN change cards without any problems whatsoever.
If they do so frequently and make SMALL adjustments at a time, there will be nothing to fear, and even though players would be less likely to drool at "overpowered" cards, they would also be more likely to want "more" cards, because they know all cards are eventually meant to be useful.
Is it so hard to imagine? A game where ALL cards are actually good?
b) - Because there is no need to re-print cards, Feerik CAN compensate players WITHOUT production costs.
c) - Because Feerik releases cards so frequently, and in small amounts at a time, it's much harder to avoid messing the balance, and as such reinforces my statement that they should continuously adjust cards.

To make it absolutely clear, no matter how many FORMATS Eredan has, Feerik's current card release philosophy - and lack of extensive testing - will NEVER have LASTING balanced results.

Plus, they keep banning cards players spend alot of effort/money to obtain.
With the constant power creep, they lower the value of the players' collections.

All of this would be fixed if they changed cards instead of banning them.
