I don't mind being outclassed by paying players. I mind being outclassed by ALL players. Once you are out of the 'safe' pool, you will be murdered again and again until you pay. Do I want to reach the top of the ELO charts, no. Do I want to get into matches where I feel like it's a fair fight, yes. But as a f2p, that's never going to happen. And with events, each time one comes up I think "Wow you need a couple really strong decks to complete this for free".
Event cards are good for f2p. If they get a hold of them that's an instant upgrade to their characters and at the very least feels good that they got this card. Paying players, are you really going to use this guy? Compared to Sulong and the Witches, Lucyan's power probably isn't the reason you guys want him.
Now I understand it takes money to run this game and more money along with time to do these events. But to completely lock out event completion to f2p just seems overkill. Yeah is should be hard but not impossible.
Story time:
The main reason this problem is so apparent is because of the age of the game and the amount of content released vs Time. The power of card releases has (obviously) had a jump in more recent times than ever before in the game's lifetime. And, believe it or not, there was only one booster for about 5 acts of the game, meaning cards like fireball and assassination were floating in the region of 60k+. Most new players don't realize, but Feerik (albeit by impractical means) is trying to balance the game. The only reason I'm still here (First account Anihilate, see old forums, locked out by facebook deletion. My moment of glory was the first viable TG deck) is because Feerik is trying.
The game has become very unwelcoming for new players (1-13 goes very quickly, being dropped into all rooms is unforgiving, I wholeheartedly agree) because of the problems you've stated.
The events have always been this unforgiving, and for each one, these complaints come in slews in the (now dwindling) english forums. I understand your frustration with balance, and currently, all we, as players, can do, is support each other's suggestions(Except by Nurvus: Never pay the Troll Toll) in the forums.
I'm going to post a well thought-out change for the room systems before the day is over(Unlike my prior posts where I raged at boss-tards), hopefully it'll gain some steam.
Anyone on the forums is more than welcome to message/friend me in game, and I'll happily adjust my deck to play on even footing and give advice on progression etc etc.

shouldn't exist, anyone that uses it is a coward and a bad sport, especially in conjunction with recycle cards like Void and Scheme. It's essentially saying: I know you put alot of effort into your deck, and hell, you beat me, but I'm going to rob you of crystals/xp and W/L because I don't want to lose.
Althing users are usually the people that would leave games to prevent perfects, I've had people leave after / resolves after Althing. Leaving...when...the...game...is...already...over...-throws keyboard-
