Self taught
action
permanent
character gains craftsman and Mechanist
character can no longer chain.
or if character was already a craftsman or mechanist they gain chain.

I have played and only played mechanist for years, and also play quilingo(before 12 chapter) and amnezy every day.
Volturia defense against mages, seriously? no way to defense for spirit lower than 10 in this game now lol.
I don't understand why Mechanist need to play powder deck, there are so much better choices than Boardatron and Cuirassier(add powder when game start, add powder to enemy, use fire mage card...etc). same to use Volturia play mage card.

Well, her ability to boost spirit to 6 with her turn bonus and her ability as well as she eats up items which goes well with my removal strategy. Add another 2 with and a couple on one of your warrior allies during the mage set up phase and... What were we talking about again? What does Ica-Rusty come with? An extra arm attached to him which increases his attack and defense. What does Mastre Galiene come with? A slower way to increase someone's spirit. When I originally made the deck stack items was pretty much dead, because the meta at the time of was pretty much discarding all cards attached to everyone thanks to things like , but I kept it around for how well it sucked up other's people key cards that liked to recycle.

At any rate, I think it's bad form for something like Mechanists to be just pinned on stacking items. There use to be a saying in the olden days that every update was a mechanist update, because Mechanist players were adapting the items that were released to their strategies. I don't see why it can't be a branching out and a new start of mechanist players adapting to play styles to there strategies and bring back the every update is a mechanist update attitude.

maybe its time for you to see your beloved mechanists from a different point of view and maybe in doing so you can discover a new style you may actually like... go ahead... its a game with strategy elements in the end

I have been testing powder decks with mechanist golems since ages.

I used the following combinations :
1) Admiral, Ica-Rusty, SARAH
Core made of Supplying, Tar and feathers, FOTP, and powder weapons such as experimental weapon and pistolblades. Works as a common powder deck, but the two golems give it extra bonuses (chain almost everything, recycling, start with a card place on your pg etc.)

2) same characters but the deck is structured as an Admiral pirate maradeur, using pocket shooters etc.
This one is purely experimental: Yes, you chain the pocket shooters, but you really suffer the lack of Stink Bombs.

I will now try to use the new character within these two decks and see the possible combinations I can make.
Cuirassier looks good and I can't wait to test it. The rare card, however, doesn't look promising. We'll see.

the new rare is good only because is a 2x1 card (when we have trouble with cards like menacing sky), if you are able to spam 2 of this +8 attack and +8 possible direct damage
